Details of the New England Air Museum Reopening

  • Open 7 days/week beginning Friday June 19
  • Hours 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. daily
  • All three exhibit hangars open – 90,000 square feet of space
  • Public programs and activities ongoing in socially distanced style

While the museum’s indoor spaces will be open, the wide open hangar doors will make everyone feel as though they are still outdoors in the fresh air. “With 90,000 square feet of aircraft hangars and wide open hangar doors, there really is no better place to go for safe, socially distanced fun” says the museum’s Executive Director Debbie Reed.

Visitors will see an entirely new kind of museum experience – The New England “Open Air” Museum – designed for maximum fun and safety.

The entire museum has been cleaned and sanitized since the last visitors left back in March. The shortened hours of 10:00 – 3:00 daily will leave the staff extra time for cleaning at the beginning and end of each day. To ensure the health and safety of the museum’s visitors, staff, and volunteers, the New England Air Museum will follow all COVID-19 rules issued by the Governor Ned Lamont and the Reopen Connecticut panel

“The great thing about this museum,” says Reed, “is that everyone can have a great experience, see incredible aircraft, learn and have fun all without the need to touch anything.” The outdoor space will remain open with 10 aircraft, and visitors can see another 50 aircraft indoors, plus dozens of engines and exhibits on various aspects of aviation history.

Admission to the New England Air Museum is $16 for adults, $10 for children ages 4-14, and free for 3 and under. Veterans are free everyday in 2020 courtesy of KeyBank.

The New England Air Museum is the largest aviation museum in New England with three large hangars, outdoor exhibits and more than 100 aircraft ranging from early airships and flying machines to supersonic jets and helicopters. The museum is located at 36 Perimeter Road (off Route 75) on the North side of Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT. For more information visit www.neam.org or call (860) 623-3305.
