We’re rolling out the (Lyme) green carpet to showcase a series of short films answering your questions about backyard tick control and Lyme disease prevention. Filmed in Ridgefield, friends and local celebrities join the effort to keep our families safe. Follow the story of neighbors planning a tick-free backyard block party. You will be drawn into their world as they learn how ticks behave, how to protect their families from tick bites, and how to safely treat their properties to reduce tick populations. While the tone is lighthearted, the recommendations are solidly based on science and focused on keeping our children safe. We’ll be serving up delicious O’Deen’s barbecue, giveaways, tick control information, photo ops with Fran the Tick, and more!
The Spray Safe, Play Safe film series was funded by a Healthy Communities Grant from the US EPA and produced by theTickborne Disease Prevention Laboratory at Western Connecticut State University and the Ridgefield Health Department’s BLAST Tickborne Disease Prevention Program. The opening night premiere event is sponsored by Western Connecticut Health Network and Lyme Connection.
Admission to this family-friendly event is FREE, but tickets are required. For tickets, go to SpraySafePlaySafe.org.
